Leading Mother of the Week #69

3-4 QUESTIONS FOR WOMEN WHO COMBINE CHILDREN AND LEADERSHIP

Deputy Head Arden University Berlin

a) I am a leader in a medium-sized company

b) I have 4 children

c) My children go to secondary school or higher education and are grown up (over 18)

d) I work full-time

1) My bullshit bingo sentence/question for Leading Mothers:

As a single mother “so are you more a dad or a mom?” “ If you are busy, how can they possibly survive?”

2) What experience with your children has inspired or helped you in your job?

Raising my children alone has been a rewarding experience all together! We went through challenges and conflict resolutions together and learned from each other. They help me to stay true to my values and to stay accountable for my actions!

3) What makes me angry?

Being a single mom is a whole other level of daily struggle- at work and in my private life. Sometimes I miss not being that white male… but my children are my happy space and source of energy.

4) If only I had known this earlier:

It is important to have a supportive community consisting of family, friends and colleagues- regardless if males or females. But at the end of the day only I am responsible for my success and happiness.
